Reading Strategy Cards
A collection of 20 reading strategy cards with more details for the teacher. It explains the reading strategy and gives the teacher examples for how to help students use that strategy in their reading. When teaching a new strategy during Guided Reading, teachers may like to keep the card with them to refer to.
Strategies included are: directionality, predicting, picture cues, fluency, predicting words, tracking, sounding out & chunking, reading on, self questioning, word analogy, re-reading, inferring, synthesising (US spelling is included too!), skipping, creating images, summarising, self correction, making connections, prior knowledge and sliding.
