Use this sheet to help students discover how many letters are in their name.
Students write each letter of their name in a box. They then count how many letters there are and write this in the big box underneath. They then draw the number into the ten frame next to it. There is also a harder version with a box for students to show the number in tally form after the ten frame.
For each version there is a sheet with 1 ten frame and if you have kids like I do with long names there is a sheet with 2 ten frames.
The harder version has ‘tally’ at the end. After completing this activity I like to create a large graph with all of our names to see how many 3 letter, 4 letters names etc we have in our class.
