A great start of year activity!
Included is a recipe template and some follow up sheets if you want to consolidate with some writing skills.
This recipe provides students with a great reminder as to the skills needed to be successful.
2 recipe cards per page.
Give each student a recipe template and talk about the skills/values and what each one means/involves to be successful.
Create your own ‘super success food’ using the recipe and place into a ziplock bag.
Use lots of different breakfast ingredients and students follow the recipe and add their own ingredients to match the different skills.
eg I cup cornflakes, 1/2 cup rice bubbles, 1/2 cup sultanas, 2 tablespoons of chopped apple, 2 tablespoons of chopped apricots and a sprinkle of coconut for example.
Other fruits, banana chips, bran, puffed oats could be part of the choice of ingredients.
Students then take the zip lock bag home with the recipe attached and can eat their ‘success food’ for breakfast.
Students can have it as their super food before school every morning!
You might like to take a picture of each student with a chefs hat on and their ‘super success food’, and use it as part of a display with their writing.
Afterwards you could use of one the 3 templates to consolidate with some writing.
Students draw the ingredient in the box and write the ingredient and or amount on the line students draw the ingredient in the box and then write a more detailed sentence on 2 lines students are just provided with lines and they can either write the food recipe or their own recipe for success using skills and values they think are important to succeed.
