Syllable Assessment

Description

Use this activity to assess a student’s ability to hear and identify 1 to 4 syllables in words. In this task students are asked to identify the number of syllables in each picture and glue it into the right column.

The columns have both dots and numbers at the top to help students. At the top of the page is a simple description of the activity and an explanation of why hearing syllables is important. At the bottom is a simple assessment where the teacher can tick if students can complete the task independently, with some assistance, or with lots of help and modelling. Keep it on A4 or print it on A3 to place in the student’s portfolio. If you are unable to print the pictures in colour you may like the print them on coloured card or have students colour them in.
